Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cables and systems industry, has signed a technical cooperation agreement with JSC “Rosseti”,Russia's largest power grid company, to develop power transmission and distribution technology in Russia.

The agreement, signed by Valerio Battista, Prysmian Group CEO, and Oleg Budargin, JSC “Rosseti” CEO, determines development prospects regarding the exchange of information in order to analyse and develop solutions for power transmission systems with voltages of up to 500 kV. THE Department of Energy (DOE) said an estimated P2 billion is needed to fully restore power transmission and distribution lines in typhoon-ravaged areas in the Visayas.

Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla told reporters at a news conference that around P1.1 billion is needed to restore the transmission lines of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP), a private company which could eventually seek regulatory approval to pass on a portion of this amount to the consumers.

Japan’s copper wire and cable shipments expanded 11 percent in October to the highest level in five years as demand from home and overseas markets increased, said an industry group.

Shipments totaled 66,400 metric tons last month, compared with 60,046 tons a year earlier, the Japanese Electric Wire & Cable Makers’ Association said today in a statement, citing preliminary data. Deliveries were 59,969 tons in September, up 4 percent from a year earlier.

Japan’s total exports grew 18.6 percent in October, exceeding the median estimate of 16.2 percent in a Bloomberg survey. The nation posted its biggest October trade deficit on record after costs for imported fuel surged ...
