The world’s first subsea gas compression station will begin operation at the Åsgard gas field next year after Nexans delivered sophisticated power umbilicals to Statoil, which manages the field. The innovative umbilicals delivered by Nexans combine power, fiber-optic and hydraulic lines in a single cross-section and will be used to transmit power, signals and fluid to compressors and pumps, and for communication between Åsgard A, Åsgard B and the subsea compression station.

The world's second tallest power transmission towers, built by Haldia Energy Limited (HEL), has come up in West Bengal.  The 236-metre-long twin towers, located at HEL's 600-MW capacity plant at Haldia and Raichak across the river Hooghly, are the tallest in the country. 

Covering a span of 1.5 km, the twin towers weigh 1,800 tonnes.  The world's highest transmission tower (370 metres) is located at Mount Damaoshan in China.

Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, has announced new investments worth over € 40 million to upgrade production capabilities in its cable plants in Pikkala, Finland and in Arco Felice, Italy. The factories are already the Group's centres of excellence for high voltage and submarine cable production.
