Suzlon Deploys Nexans’ End to End Cab...

Suzlon, one of the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers, has turned to Nexans to support its major projects in Brazil with complete end to end cable solutions that will ensure effective, efficient and reliable connections for some 150 wind turbine generators (WTGs). The total contract value is worth around €11 million.

AK Steel said members of the United Steelworkers Local 169 ratified a three-year labor agreement covering about 280 hourly production and maintenance employees at the company’s Mansfield Works.

“We are pleased to have reached a new labor agreement at our Mansfield Works ahead of the expiration date,” said James L. Wainscott, Chairman, president and CEO of AK Steel. “The agreement continues to serve the interests of both the company and Local 169 members in an increasingly competitive, global steel industry.”

The current agreement expires on March 31, 2014. The new agreement will take effect March 31, 2014, and expire March 31, 2017.

Nexans to Deliver for Gode Wind

Nexans has signed a supplementary contract with Dong Energy for the delivery and installation of medium-voltage cables for the 582MW Gode Wind 1 and 2 offshore wind farms in Germany.

The new agreement is part of an outline contract for the delivery of up to 900km of offshore cables for internal farm cabling at Dong projects. The new order includes 140km of 34kV inter-array cables at Gode Wind 1 and 2.

Construction of Gode Wind 1 and 2, which will be sited off the Lower Saxony coast, will begin in spring 2015 after the Borkum Riffgrund 1 project has been completed.

A 300 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in the U.S. state of Utah has received its conditional use permit from the county in which it is planned. Energy Capital Group LLC (ECG, Provo, Utah, U.S.) plans to build the plant on 7 square kilometers of land which it will lease from a public trust in Millard County, Utah.

The site has a transmission easement to a major interstate transmission line roughly 2 km from the project site. As this transmission line runs directly to California, ECG plans to sell the electricity generated to California utilities, which must source an increasing portion of their power from PV and other renewables.
