Prysmian Supplies Cables For The Niag...

Prysmian Group has won a €16m contract for power transmission and distribution cabling for the 230MW Niagara onshore wind farm in North America.

The contract was awarded by NCS International for medium voltage power and fibre optic cables and Eptcon for the HV cables.

Prysmian will supply 25km of 138kV underground cable with aluminum conductor and XLPE insulation and 650km of 35kV MV power cables to interconnect the wind farm to Hydro One Networks.

It will also supply the HV outdoor terminations and Click Fit jointing systems along with direct burial fibre optic cable.

Mazzella Co. of Cleveland acquires Ro...

Lifting and rigging company Mazzella Co. of Cleveland has acquired Rouster Wire Rope & Rigging of Mabscott, W.Va.

Rouster supplies products like chain slings, synthetic and wire rope and nylon and polyester web slings, the company said in a news release. The acquisition will add to Mazzella’s “expertise in high-performance synthetics,” as well as expand its footprint, according to the release.

The price of the acquisition was not included in the release, and a message left for the company on Nov. 11 was not immediately returned.

General Cable Industries Inc., one of the world’s largest wire and cable manufacturers, will invest $2.5 million to expand and relocate production to Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The company plans to create more than 54 jobs. In May, General Cable announced the closing and relocation of its manufacturing facilities in Franklin, Massachusetts, and Des Plaines, Illinois. Today, the company announced that these operations will be consolidated into its existing facility in Lawrenceburg. Vocus, Nextgen Networks to Build AU$1...

Vocus Communications and Nextgen Networks have signed 50-50 joint venture to build the Australian Singapore Cable, a deal valued around $120 million (AU$170 million).

Vocus has confirmed that the 4,600-kilometre ASC will connect Australia to Singapore and Indonesia. The company claimed it will be the first 100 gigabit per second high-seed connection from Australia to Southeast Asia.

Following finalisation of regulatory approvals, completion of due diligence, and other conditions, the project is scheduled to begin construction in early 2016 and will take approximately 18 months to complete.
