The recent acquisition of the Binda and Sasai coal block in Jharkhand will ensure availability of fuel to wire rope maker Usha Martin. But on the flipside, the higher cost of fuel will add further pressure on the company’s stretched balance-sheet.

Usha Nartin clinched the partly developed Binda and Sasai asset at an aggressive bid of 1,804 crore  for every tonne of coal to be produced. The asset is expected to be operational in the next two years. Till then, the company has to survive on open market purchase of the fuel.

Elia, the Belgian Transmission System Operator (TSO), will rely on Nexans extra-high voltage cable systems for the major Stevin project to reinforce Belgium’s high voltage power grid. ABB wins $900 Million Order to Connec...

ABB has won orders worth around $900 million from a consortium comprising leading utilities Statnett and TenneT as well as promotional bank KfW to supply on-shore high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations and the cable system in the German sector that will facilitate the first ever interconnection between the Norwegian and German power grids. The link will be 623 kilometers (km) long, making it the longest HVDC connection in Europe. It is scheduled to go into commercial operation in 2020.
