At the wire Southeast Asia 2015 trade fair, Maschinenfabrik Niehoff and its Singapore Representative Office will show an MSM 85 rod breakdown machine (booth H 33).

The electronically driven MSM 85 is designed to produce wires made of copper, copper alloys, aluminum, aluminum alloys, and other non­ferrous materials. The machine is capable of drawing copper wires with a maximum inlet diameter of 10 mm (or 12.5 mm aluminum wires) to a minimum final diameter of 1.0 mm. The maximum line speed is 40 m/s.

The D Series Wire Strippers from The Eraser Company cover many applications for stripping magnet, enamel and film insulated wire.  These machines use high speed rotating stripping wheels to remove the insulation from round, rectangular and square wires.

ArcelorMittal has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Steel Authority of India Limited for a joint venture that would establish an automotive steel manufacturing plant in India.

The steel giant also announced plans to idle its wire rod mill in Georgetown, South Carolina, and reassess its other U.S. holdings, especially finishing facilities, to offset record imports, increased competition and too-high legacy costs. The closure will cost 226 American workers their jobs.

The company recently reported a $103 million first quarter operating loss for its North American division. Arcelor's U.S. holdings lost nearly $1.5 billion over the past five years, one executive pointed out.

Sarawak Cable Bhd is slated to gain from the government’s plan to proceed with the construction of the Baram Dam.  It was reported that the Sarawak state government will proceed with the construction of the RM4 billion Baram dam with Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem saying he had secured the support of majority of the community leaders in Baram to proceed with the project.

The construction is slated to begin next year with completion expected by 2024 while Baram is expected to commence as soon as possible.

TPC Wire & Cable Corp. of Macedonia has been sold from one out-of-town firm to another.

Private equity firm Pfingsten Partners LLC of Chicago sold the company to middle market investor Audax Group of Boston for an undisclosed price, according to a news release.

It doesn’t seem like this sale will mean much change for local employees. Senior marketing manager Michelle Willmott said TPC has a long-term lease in its current space and it has room to grow there. There are about 165 employees at the company, about 130 of whom are local.

Kenya’s grid connected electricity capacity is 1429 MW and due to a growing population and economy, the demand for electricity is projected to grow to about 15,000 MW by 2030.
