China Is Hit by EU Tariffs of Up to 1...

The European Union imposed tariffs as high as 13 percent on steel from China used to reinforce concrete, the latest sign of EU unease about overcapacity at Chinese mills.

The duties punish Chinese exporters of high fatigue performance steel concrete reinforcement bars for allegedly selling them in the EU below cost, a practice known as dumping. The targeted companies include Jiangyin Xicheng Steel Co., Jiangsu Yonggang Group Co. and Zhangjiagang Shatai Steel Co.

Jan De Nul Group will install two additional power cables for Saudi Aramco’s Marjan Field, offshore Saudi Arabia, in the Persian Gulf.

For the Marjan gas oil separation plant project executed by McDermott, Jan De Nul Group will install two 115 kV cables, supplied by Nexans Norway.  Both cables, with a total cable weight of 8500-tonne, have been loaded and will now be transported and installed with Jan De Nul Group's cable laying vessel Isaac Newton.

A transmission line proposed from Beekmantown to New Haven, Vt., would be used to deliver electricity generated by a new wind farm proposed in northern Clinton County.

It also carries the promise of hundreds of jobs and other economic impacts.  Massachusetts-based Anbaric is working with National Grid to gain approval for the $600 million Vermont Green Line, an underground high-voltage direct-current line.  

It would include a 37,500-square-foot converter station near Jersey Swamp Road and about six miles of underground cable in the Town of Beekmantown.

The cost is estimated at $176,000,000 to $188,000,000 for this portion of the project.

In a contract worth 4.6 million Euros, LofotKraft AS has once again selected Nexans to deliver and install 170 kV XLPE cables to upgrade the current systems in three fjords; Gimsøystraumen, Nappstraumen and Flakstadpollen to strengthen the power supply for residents throughout Lofoten, Norway. This will include upgrading the current grid capacity from 66 kV to 132 kV.

Lofotkraft AS will upgrade the submarine cable in all three fjords to extend longevity and solve issues related to inadequate transmission capacity. Nexans Norway will supply the 170 kV XLPE cables with transition joints, end terminations and contingency repair joints.

Models HC10, FC10 and HCA20 Wire and Cable Cutters from The Eraser Company can quickly cut many types and sizes of wire and cable.

The HC10 is hand operated by use of a lever, while the FC10 utilizes a foot pedal to cut material.  Both models can cut material up to 1" OD, depending on material construction.  An optional conversion kit is available to change an HC10 to an FC10.  Using the foot pedal allows the operator to have both hands free to hold material in place while cutting.
