For the sixth time now the Indian trade fair trio WIRE & CABLE INDIA, Tube India and Metallurgy India was held at the Bombay Convention & Exhibition Center in Mumbai from 5 to 7 October 2016.

Over three days of the trade fair the latest technologies from the wire and cable industries, tube processing and tube trading as well as metallurgy were presented by 406 exhibitors on just under 8,000 square metres of exhibition area. Alongside a high percentage of exhibitors from India, there were again large country pavilions from Germany, Austria, Italy, the USA and China.

The construction work on laying of optical fiber cable between China and Pakistan is in full swing in Abbottabad and Haripur districts.

According to sources, the 820km Pakistan-China fiber optic cable project from Rawalpindi to Khunjerab will be completed by Special Communications Organization at a cost of 44 million US dollars by June 2018.

According to Special Communication Organization,  the Pakistan-China Optical Fiber Cable project will bring economic benefits and create job opportunities for youth.

The MCT cable system spans approximately 1,300 km. It will position Cambodia as the gateway to Asia which enables the country to harvest the Asia traffic and extends the connectivity to ASEAN and the rest of the world via Malaysia, the news agency cited a press release issued at a conference on MCT Progress in Phnom Penh on October 25 as saying.

“We are very excited to announce that Cambodia’s first submarine cable is about to arrive and EZECOM will be the first ISP in Cambodia to own this submarine cable. We are going to launch landing station building in Sihanoukville on December 16,” said Yves Schaeffer, CEO of EZECOM.

China To Exceed 2016 Target For Steel...

China is set to hit its 2016 target for crude steelcapacity cuts by late October, with additional reductions expected in the last two months of the year, an industry association reported.

The China Iron & Steel Association (CISA) also said on its website that the country had by the end of last month completed more than 80 percent of this year's capacity reduction target of 45 million tonnes.

A worldwide steel glut has stoked trade disputes between China, the world's top maker of the construction material, and other producers such as the United States and the European Union.

Fugro has been awarded a contract by Vineyard Wind, formerly named OffshoreMW, to perform a marine geotechnical site investigation within its wind development lease, offshore Massachusetts.

The company’s 105-meter drilling vessel M/V Fugro Synergy will perform the study, which will include numerous seabed CPTs and exploration boreholes, along with sampling and downhole CPTs.

Following the fieldwork, a program of laboratory testing and reporting will be performed by Fugro’s offices in Houston TX and Norfolk VA.
