Bekaert: First Half Year 2016 Results

Bekaert achieved strong volume and margin growth in the first half of 2016. The Group’s 6% volume growth stemmed from firm demand in automotive and solar markets and steadily increasing sales volumes in industrial steel wire and construction markets. The robust volume growth was more than offset in Bekaert’s top line by adverse currency movements (-3%), lower wire rod prices (-4%) which we pass on to our customers, and price erosion and mix effects (-3%). The slowdown in oil and gas markets affected the product-mix due to declining demand for profiled wires and steel ropes.

Prysmian Group, has been awarded a contract by National Grid - international electricity and gas company based in the UK and north eastern US - for the supply of Pry-Cam products for on-line condition assessment and hand held diagnostic evaluation.

The contract includes the supply of 15 Pry-Cam Portable units and 6 Pry-Cam Grids units that will be used as a trial for on-line condition assessment and monitoring on the transmission network in England and Wales. Nexans Umbilicals Achieve Global Reac...

OneSubsea has ordered the umbilical and accessories from Nexans to develop the Greater Enfield development off the coast of Exmouth, Western Australia. The project, worth around 20 million euros, will be Nexans’ first to be installed in Australia.

The umbilical will be manufactured at Nexans’ plants in Halden and Rognan, and will be delivered in January 2018. It will be installed at a depth down to 915 m. To maximise the cost-effectiveness of the single unit umbilical it will comprise both dynamic and static sections.

SteelAsia Manufacturing Corp. is looking to raise the bar of the Philippine steel industry with plans of investing about $500 million in the next five years for additional plants capable of producing new products.

In a press briefing, officials from the country’s largest steel manufacturer unveiled plans of putting up three new facilities that will enable the company to produce wire rod, plate and steel section.
