EU Slaps China, Taiwan With Steel Ant...

The European Commission has imposed anti-dumping duties on steel products from China and Taiwan to stop them flooding Europe's struggling steel market.

The Commission said Friday that an investigation has confirmed that Chinese and Taiwanese stainless steel tube and a type of butt-welded pipe fitting have been sold in Europe at dumping prices.

The Chinese exports will now be taxed with duties ranging from 30.7-64.9 percent. Taiwanese exports face duties of 5.1-12.1 percent.

Teufelberger has signed a definitive agreement for the acquisition of Italian steel wire rope manufacturer Redaelli Tecna from Russian Severstal–metiz.

Austria-based Teufelberger specialises in the development design and manufacture of high tech steel wire ropes. In 2015 it reported revenues of €180m, of which 90% came from exports.

Redaelli designs and manufactures steel wire ropes for offshore and onshore oil and gas activities, mining, cableways, material transportation and hoisting. It generated total revenues of €92m in 2015.

ScottishPower Renewables has chosen Nexans’ submarine cables to carry energy onshore from its new 714 MW East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm. Nexans will supply and install two 85 km 3-core submarine cables with embedded fibre optics, as well as accompanying accessories, for the wind farm in the North Sea. The contract is worth more than 180 million euros.
