Sjogren Industries is celebrating its 90th Anniversary as a leading solutions provider for the wire and cable industry.

Founded in 1927 by Oscar Sjogren, the company has long been an innovator in the design and manufacturing of customized solutions for the wire tooling trades.

As a Swedish immigrant working in a wire mill in Worcester, MA, Sjogren had an idea that would change the wire and cable industry forever. He designed a tool that would make him better at his job and he had the integrity to show that tool to his supervisor.

JDR To Supply 66kV Intra-Array Cables...

The contract – the industry’s first commercial 66kV array cable project to date – will see JDR design and manufacture 155km of array cables including end terminations. The innovative 66kV high voltage technology will enable increased power transmission back to shore from large, high powered offshore turbines over 33kV cables. JDR will also provide a unique cable management system at each offshore wind turbine generator which allows for a 66kV topside connection to the switchgear cables.

RTI Connectivity Pte. Ltd. and NEC Corporation announced that construction of the Hong Kong - Guam Cable system (HK-G) has officially commenced. The 3,900 kilometer undersea cable, featuring 100 gigabit per second (Gbps) optical transmission capabilities, will deliver design capacity of more than 48 terabits per second (Tbps), and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2019.In Hong Kong, the cable is slated to land in Tseung Kwan O (TKO) and will land in Piti, Guam at the recently completed Teleguam Holdings LLC (GTA) cable landing station. The Spanish and Brazilian governments have teamed up to lay an undersea cable in the Atlantic Ocean to offer fast online and cloud services to citizens of both countries by 2019, underscoring efforts to rout communications outside North America.

The EllaLink subsea cable will connect to data centers in Madrid and São Paulo, as well as in Lisbon, using shielded fiber rings, officials said on Monday. The cable will also connect the archipelagoes of Madeira, Spain's Canary Islands and Africa's Cape Verde along the route, they added.

Auburn's AIM Group has completed its largest investment to date, pumping $6.4 million as part of a group of investors into an Atlanta-based fiber optic company.

AIM Group, along with Fidelis Capital and Bonaventure Capital, completed an $8.9 million equity purchase of Deep Fiber Solutions.

South Korean steelmakers faced heavier pressure over the US government’s plan to investigate carbon and alloy steel wire rod imported to American soil, which could lead to more tariffs on their products.The Department of Commerce said it would start an investigation of the products from 10 countries, including South Korea, to look into how much the alleged dumping practices and subsidized imports contribute to the US trade deficit.
