Sterlite Tech,  an end-to-end global technology leader in smarter digital networks, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Smart Cities Mission, announced the company’s selection for the implementation of Smart City solutions in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Kakinada was chosen among the first 20 cities in the first phase of the Smart City Mission. The project aims to bring transformational changes in the everyday living experiences of over 3.25 lakh citizens of Kakinada, through real-time governance and efficient delivery of citizen services. As part of the project, Sterlite Tech will design, build and manage the Kakinada Smart City for the next six years.

An estimated $80 million Appalachian Power transmission line upgrade is on track to be completed by late 2018.

Appalachian Power spokesman John Shepelwich said the Bland Area Improvements Project runs from Mercer County to Wythe County, Va.

“The project begins at the Progress Park Substation near the 77/81 interchange in Wythe County,” he said. “It essentially runs north, following 77 most of the way through Bland County and then about one mile into Mercer County and ending at the South Bluefield Substation.”

Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, announces that Terna Rete Italia has confirmed a series of additional works — originally included as option — to be added to the Venetian Lagoon submarine power cable links project, a contract awarded to the Group last year following an European bid.

These new works are worth approximately €20 million and involve the completion of the project aimed at strengthening the high voltage power transmission grid in the Venice area. The project includes 6 km link, made up of High Voltage Alternate Current (HVAC) 132kV cables.

China's Delong Holdings plans to spend 950  million US building a stainless steel plant in the Morowali industrial park in Sulawesi,Indonesia.

The project, with an annual output capacity of 3.5 million tons, will help meet steel demands in southeastern Indonesia.

The project is known as PT Dexin Steel Indonesia, in which Delong's Singapore unit, Shanghai Decent and the Morowali industrial park will hold 45%, 43% and 12% equities respectively.

The Aria Group, the owners and organisers of Iran Wire, will be holding this high-profile technology trade fair for the first time at the new exhibition centre. 15 exhibition halls are being created in Tehran, of which three have already been completed: A6, A5 and A4.

LS Cable & Systems announced that it won a project to supply ultrahigh-voltage cable in Singapore. The deal entails a large-scale project in which the Singaporean government will install 230kV-class cable in a total of five sections between south and north and between east and west in Singapore by 2020 in order to ensure stable power supply.

The volume of cable to be used alone measures 360 kilometers in total. The project will effectively connect a long distance longer than 325 kilometers (direct distance between Seoul and Busan) via underground cable. The project is valued at about 370 billion won (326 million U.S. dollars).
