The Snøhvit gas field in the Barents Sea is the largest ever industrial project in North Norway. It is now entering part two of its multi-phase development plan with Equinor and its partners investing over half a billion euros in the Askeladd development which will provide feedstock for the onshore LNG (liquified natural gas) plant at Melkøya in Hammerfest. To support the development, Equinor has awarded a major contract to Nexans to design, manufacture and supply a total of 42 kilometers of static infield and interfield umbilicals to control the subsea production systems.

Republic Steel In Lorain Set To Reope...

Republic says it's invested $12 million over the last 18 months, to prepare for the reopening.

The company says it plans to restart its mill in September -- bringing about 80 jobs back in the first phase.

The plant was idled in January 2016.

LS Cable Wins US$40 Mln Project In India

LS Cable & System has announced it has won a contract worth US$40 million to supply extra-high voltage cables in eastern India.

The company said the deal, clinched with Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corp., is the largest project ever won by LS Cable and System India, its local subsidiary.

LS Cable said the deal accounts for roughly 20 percent of the annual Indian market for extra-high voltage cables, which is estimated at $200 million.

The South Korean company said it plans to penetrate deeper into the world's third-largest energy user, where the demand to renovate outdated power infrastructures has been growing.

When Southwire opens its new Villa Rica distribution center this summer, it will be the fourth facility in the city and part of the ongoing expansion of a local company founded nearly 70 years ago.

The 60 employees expected at the new warehouse will join more than 380 Southwire employees in Villa Rica -- and that's only the beginning, according to company President and CEO Rich Stinson.

JDR Wins Formosa Wire Work For Array,...

JDR is to supply the array, export and onshore cables for the Orsted, Swancore and Maquarie-owned 120MW Formosa 1 offshore wind farm off the coast of Taiwan.

Cable package manager Jan De Nul has selected the cable manufacturer to produce the wires, with production set to start in the fourth quarter of this year, the company said.

The project will use 21km of 33kV inter-array cable produced at JDR's Hartlepool facility. 

Jan De Nul will ship the components to Taiwan for installation. JDR will also deliver 13km of export cable and a further 16km of onshore wires to the project.
