Kabelmetal Nigeria Plc’s (a Nexans affiliated company) request to promote shipboard and petrochemical/refinery cables as potential Nigerian content has been approved by the Nigeria Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB).

The company's new capacity to manufacture shipboard, umbilical, refineries and petrochemical LV cables for the offshore market has also boosted local ability in the petroleum industry.

Ryerson To Acquire Central Steel & Wi...

Ryerson Holding Corp. (RYI) announced a definitive merger agreement to acquire Central Steel & Wire Company, a metal service center with six locations across the Central and Eastern U.S. The transaction values Central Steel & Wire at an enterprise value of $140 million on a cash-free, debt-free basis with a normalized level of working capital.

Central Steel & Wire employs approximately 900 people and has annual revenue of approximately $600 million. Central Steel & Wire will continue to operate under its current brand name following the closing of the transaction.

Ryerson intends to fund the acquisition through existing and acquired sources of liquidity.

Guangdong Guoxin Industrial Co Ltd has awarded SMS group the Final Acceptance Certificate after successful commissioning of the two single-strand wire rod mills for its Jieyang works, Guangdong province. The works is designed for an annual capacity of 1.4 million tons (700,000 tons per year per wire rod mill). The two single-strand high-speed mills roll wire rod in diameters from 5.5 to 25 millimeters and rebars in diameters between 6 and 14 millimeters.

Primetals Copper Mill To Be Installed...

A copper rod mill manufactured in the Worcester location of metal product manufacturer Primetals will eventually find its way to China for the production of tough pitch copper.

The mill is set to be installed in The Jiangsu Province of China for Jiangsu ZGR New Material Co., a company based in the city of Yixing.

The SCR-7000 copper rod mill will be installed by Georgia wire and cable producer Southwire Co., which signed a contract with ZGR.

Primetals will provide engineering, equipment and installation supervision for the rolling mill equipment, which includes a 13-stand Morgan No-Twist mill, a 24-inch entry shear, intermediate shear and other related systems.
