Sterlite Tech, an end-to-end global technology leader in smarter digital networks, today announced the signing of definitive agreements for acquisition of a European specialised optical cable manufacturer based in Italy.

Sterlite Tech, through its wholly owned Italian subsidiary Sterlite Technologies S.p.A, will acquire 100% stake in Metallurgica Bresciana S.p.A (Metallurgica).

Metallurgica designs and manufactures special precision optical fibre cables and specialised copper cables for various communication applications. The target firm is a privately held company focused on bringing specialised cabling solutions for various network applications across industry segments.

RapcoHorizon (RHC) has finalized the acquisition of all assets of Lava Cable. The Lava Cable brand and its products will be supported by RHC. Mark Stoddard of Lava Cable will be joining the RHC team as the Lava Cable product specialist and will support all sales efforts of the product line.

Ryerson To Acquire Central Steel & Wi...

Ryerson Holding Corp. (RYI) announced a definitive merger agreement to acquire Central Steel & Wire Company, a metal service center with six locations across the Central and Eastern U.S. The transaction values Central Steel & Wire at an enterprise value of $140 million on a cash-free, debt-free basis with a normalized level of working capital.

Central Steel & Wire employs approximately 900 people and has annual revenue of approximately $600 million. Central Steel & Wire will continue to operate under its current brand name following the closing of the transaction.

Ryerson intends to fund the acquisition through existing and acquired sources of liquidity.

JSW Steel and Vedanta have expressed an interest to acquire the specialty steel business of Usha Martin, a sale fetching a maximum of ?5,000 crore that will help the Kolkata-based company pare its debt, two people aware of the development told ET. The valuation of the business is being pegged between Rs 3,500 and Rs 5,000 crore. JSW Steel has acquired Aferpi, an Italian steelmaker, for a cash consideration of 55mn euros (Rs441cr). The acquisition also includes stake purchase in Aferpi who is a maker of specialty long steel products. The company's plant consists of a rail mill (0.32mtpa), a bar mill (0.4mtpa) and a wire rod mill (0.6mtpa). The plant also has a captive port and steel ball mill that are part of the acquisition. Grupo Simec, reports that it has entered to a contract with Arcelor Mittal Brasil, S.A. for the acquisitions of the steel products plants of Cariacica and Itauna, both in Brazil and for steel wire drawn equipment for the production of wires and derivatives.









The production capacity of Cariacica plant is 600,000 mt/year of liquid steel and 450,000 mt/year of rolled steel products. This plant has more than 500 employees and produces light structural rods and profiles. The factory is located in the city of Cariacica, next to the city of Victoria, in Espirito Santo State, on a land of more than 1,200,000 m2.
