Davis-Standard Acquires Maillefer

Davis-Standard, LLC has announced that it has reached agreement to acquire Maillefer International Oy of Vantaa, Finland and Ecublens, Switzerland.   Maillefer is a global leader in wire, cable, pipe and tube production technologies.   Pending customary regulatory approvals, the transaction is scheduled to close in late August or September.

In Ukraine will soon start producing parts for BMW.  The corresponding agreement by German auto giant have signed with the company “Elektrokontakt of Ukraine”, a subsidiary of the French group Nexans.

Spare parts for BMW will be produced at the company Nexans in Brody (Lviv region). We are talking about a variety of cable products.

Plant in Brody already took the mandatory audit of BMW specialists. After that, according to Director of “Elektrokontakt of Ukraine” Andrew Gavrilchik, a company approved as an official supplier of products to the concern BMW.

To keep pace with growing demand, Jiangsu Jinhui Copper Group signed a contract with Southwire Company, LLC on behalf of subsidiary Yixing Runfeng Copper Co., Ltd. for a third SCR-7000 copper rod mill to be supplied by Primetals Technologies. Jiangsu Jinhui Copper Group purchased their first SCR- 7000 from Southwire in 2007 and a second mill in 2012. The new mill will be installed in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, China. Start-up is projected for summer 2018.

Advanced Digital Cable Inc. plans to expand its wire and cable production facility in Blairsville, Ga., adding 65 jobs.

ADC, which currently employs 70 people at its 140,000-square-foot facility in Blairsville, said Tuesday it will invest $15 million to add 100,000 square feet to its existing facility and nearly double the factory staff.

"This expansion will enable ADC to better serve our customer base by giving us the capacity to increase the volume of our current product lines made in Blairsville," Steve Payne, president of ADC, said in a statement today.

Japanese steelmaker Kobe Steel has announced that its Chinese affiliate company, Kobe Special Steel Wire Products (Pinghu) Company (or KSP), has started up its new pickling equipment. Based in Pinghu, Zhejiang Province, KSP processes special steel wire rod into cold heating quality (CHQ) steel wire.

The new equipment increases production capacity to about 4.9kt metric tons per month, from 3.5kt metric tons per month. Kobe Steel originally announced the 1.3 billion-yen capital investment plan on10 November 2015.

CWI To Stop Manufacturing in Erin, On...

Central Wire Industries (CWI) will be stopping the manufacturing portion of its wire production business in Erin due to the high cost of power.

CEO and president Paul From said manufacturing of stainless steel and nickel alloy wire products will be relocated to two of its U.S. facilities and its Perth, Ontario facility, meaning 20 to 25 people will be out of jobs in Erin.
