The high voltage (HV) market is requiring an increasing number of tests at higher and higher voltage levels. In order to support this growing business, Nexans has decided to significantly enhance its testing capacity by building in Calais, France, a new state-of-the-art direct current (DC) laboratory that allows to test simultaneously three independent qualification loops.

Each loop is composed of multiple cable sections and joints and is connected to the electrical network through two terminations. AFL, a maker of fibre-optic cable and accessories, is looking to manufacture products at its Bengaluru facility for North American and other Asian markets. The company, which partnered with Citadel Intelligent Systems for manufacturing in India, will primarily produce equipment designed for data centres for existing and new customers. 

Jody Gallagher, President and chief executive officer, AFL, said fast-paced growth in the data centre market had attracted the company, a subsidiary of US-based Fujikura Ltd, to have an India presence for meeting the demand both from the local and global markets.

Nucor to Build Merchant Bar Mill at N...

Nucor Corporation announced that it will build a full-range merchant bar quality (MBQ) mill at its existing bar steel mill located in Bourbonnais, Illinois. The MBQ mill will have an annual capacity of 500,000 tons and is expected to cost $180 million. The project will take approximately two years to complete.
