The International Wire & Cable Symposium, Inc. (IWCS) hosted the 61st International Wire ∙Connectivity Symposium earlier this month in Providence, RI. The event drew 1125 registrants, representing a 10% increase in attendance over the past few years. With more than 100 exhibitors, and a shortened exhibition schedule, attendees were kept very busy with a program of over 120 technical presentations, and visits to the exhibitors.

ABB Wins Orders Worth $170 million in...

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has won orders worth around $170 million to execute substation projects for the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), the country’s national power transmission and distribution operator. The orders were booked in the third quarter.

JDR Cables Lands Deal For Seven Miles...

A CABLE firm has won a major contract – on the same day it announced a 75 per cent increase in turnover.

 

 



Hartlepool company JDR Cables has clinched a deal with a firm called Swiber Offshore.  It will provide cable for the Champion oilfield in Brunei.

 

 

JDR will manufacture the cables needed to redevelop the field as an oil recovery programme.  The project will be handled by JDR’s existing 150-strong workforce.  The agreement will see JDR provide 10 custom-designed umbilical cables of about seven miles in length to be used in water depths of up to 100ft.
