Kuehne + Nagel Australia has signed a five-year contract with Corning Cable Systems Australia, one of the leading providers of fibre optic and copper product solutions for customers’ telecommunications network. The agreement represents a strengthened relationship between the two companies in Australia.



Kuehne + Nagel will be responsible for the end-to-end management of Corning Cable Systems’ 18,000 sqm facility in Melbourne, comprising 12,000 sq m indoor and 6,000 sqm outdoor warehouses.

Rock Island Clean Line Closer to Star...

If state regulators approve it, and rights-of-way can be agreed on, Iowa may see the Rock Island Clean Line being built over the next few years. It's a high-voltage transmission line to transport 3,500 megawatts of renewable energy from Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota to Illinois and other states farther east.


At the Center for Rural Affairs, energy policy advocate Johnathan Hladik says that, if the line is built it will mean thousands of jobs for this part of the country.

Kenya to Expand Fibre-optic Infrastru...

China has agreed to loan Kenya $71 million (6 billion shillings) for the construction of the National Optic Fibre Backbone Infrastructure (NOFBI) and e-government expansion projects, Kenya's Capital News FM reported.



Joseph Kinyua, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Finance, told the paper that the two governments have been drafting the terms of the agreement and intend to complete and sign them by the end of July.

Feng Hsin Cuts Steel Bar and Wire Rod...

Feng Hsin, one of the major steel long product producers in Taiwan, has announced to cut its base prices of steel bar and wire rod by TWD 1,000 per tonne for July 2012 shipment.


Meanwhile, this is the first time that the company cut the prices since 2012. After the price announcement, the company's latest prices of 1008A wire rod are at TWD 23,800 per tonne; that of 45C straight bar with diameters of 13mm to 100mm is at TWD 24,200 per tonne and that of 45C straight bar with diameters of 103mm to 150mm is at TWD 23,700 per tonne and that of A36 straight bar with diameter of 51mm to 72mm is at TWD 23,100 per tonne.
