KEC International Ltd. (KEC), a global infrastructure EPC major, an RPG Group company, is pleased to announce that it has completed the phase‐1 expansion by commencing the commercial production of high tension (HT) power cables (up to 33 kV) at its green‐field facility in Vadodara, Gujarat w.e.f. 2nd July 2012. This will have annual production capacity of approx. 1,800 kilometers of cables.

US Seeks Fiber-optic Cable For Guanta...

The U.S. military hopes to install a $40 million underwater fiber-optic cable to improve communications at Guantanamo Bay.



A spokesman for the Guantanamo military commissions says the cable would run 800 miles (1,290 kilometers) from Guantanamo Bay to South Florida. Army Lt. Col. Todd Breasseale said Thursday that the system could start operating within two years.



The base currently relies on a single satellite and technicians have to constantly reroute bandwidths to meet the needs of various organizations based in Guantanamo.

TdC Bags Submarine Cable System Job

Time dotCom Bhd (TdC) has bagged the job to construct and maintain the Asia-Pacific Gateway (APG) submarine cable system which connects Malaysia to South Korea and Japan.



Its wholly-owned subsidiaries and global bandwidth business arms, Global Transit Communication Sdn Bhd and Global Transit Ltd, collectively known as Global Transit, will administer the APG on its behalf.



It has entered into a construction and maintenance agreement for the job. The APG is a 10,000km international fibre-optic cable system linking Malaysia to South Korea and Japan with seven branches to other Asian countries. It is scheduled to be ready in the third quarter of 2014.
