There soon will be utility cables powering parts of China that will be produced with equipment made in Rome, N.Y..
Bartell Machinery Systems will be unveiling a new single twister stander machine later this month that is capable of producing large industrial electrical transmission cable for the power utility industry.
The first unit, which is produced at the company’s Elmer Hill Road facility, is scheduled to be shipped to China in August.
Bartell Machinery owns unique roll-forming technology that shapes and pre-forms wire during the manufacturing process and significantly improves the electrical transmission property of the cable, thereby reducing the overall material required for the finished product, said President Patrick Morocco.
The new cable power distribution line stranding machine is digitally monitored and controlled via a programmable logic controller and a menu-driven touch screen so that at each stage the operator is guided to obtain the desired machine operation.
“Developing innovative technologies that enhance our customers’ manufacturing capabilities and product performance is core to our vision,” Morocco said in a statement. “Our ability to design, engineer, and manufacture advanced industrial machinery that competes in a worldwide market is a testament to our skilled workforce and to the strong technical and manufacturing base we have right here in Central New York.”
The 75-year-old company provides industrial manufacturing equipment for the tire and rubber, oil and gas, and wire and cable industries, and has more than 8,500 systems installed worldwide.
